Sead Haksabanovic stalemate as Celtic star sees Norrkoping demand EU help amid FIFA deadlock in Rubin Kazan cash row

IFK Norrkoping are set to look for the Chamber of Commerce to bypass the European Union sanctions against Russia to allow them to end the unpaid transfer row over Celtic star Sead Hakasbanovic.

The 23-year-old completed his transfer to the Scottish Premiership champions in the summer from Rubin Kazan after they allowed the winger to join Ange Postecoglou's side amid contract issues following the invasion of Ukraine – just 12 months after signing him for £5.5million from the Swedish minnows. Following his move to Celtic, Norrokoping claimed they had yet to received £3.2million of the transfer fee that Rubin had originally agreed.

The dispute has already been flagged up to FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and the Swedish side will now reportedly go one step further to clear another hurdle and unlock the funds for the Montenegro international. SVT report that the case put forward to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce would allow the payment to be rubber stamped amid a series of regulations imposed by the EU during the war in Ukraine.

Norrkoping chairman Sakarias Mardh has previously stated that funds have had to be "reserved" by the Swedish side to make sure they remain in profit as they wait on a ruling over the Haksabanovic deal. He said: "Basically 2022 was a good year, before we had reserved this fee we were in profit. The reservation is not part of the operation but a precaution we are taking while this is being processed by Fifa and CAS.
