'Scrap it' - Manchester United fans share worrying theory after Real Madrid defeat

Manchester United's first-team squad had their first outing in their new away kit during the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Houston.

United officially released their second shirt earlier this week, with fans split over the bold design. Adidas have opted for a dark green and white striped colour scheme which is vastly different from previous years.

The shirt was first on show during the friendly with Wrexham in San Diego, a game in which a young United side lost 3-1 to the League Two outfit. Wrexham forward Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung during the game while Dan Gore was sent off in the second half.

And it was the senior players' turn to don the new shirt 24 hours later, but goals from Jude Bellingham and Joselu handed Carlo Ancelotti's side the win at the NRG Stadium. United were second-best in both games and it has not been a good start for a shirt that is already struggling to impress.

United's next friendly is against Borussia Dortmund and the away shirt could be given its third outing of pre-season, though United could also play in their home kit as there would be no colour clash with Dortmund's yellow shirts.

A third kit is expected to be on the way, with yet more 'leaks' surfacing online earlier this week. If the 'leaks' are correct then United's third shirt will be white with maroon detailing.

The transfer window is in full swing and United have already got their hands on two players, with Mason Mount and Andre Onana through the door at Old Trafford
