Scottish PDC darts star winds up England fans with five-word message after Spain defeat

PDC darts star Cameron Menzies needed no invitation to poke fun at England's loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Menzies was one of millions of football fans who watched the Spanish defeat Gareth Southgate's side in Berlin. Mikel Oyarzabal's 86th minute winner was enough for Luis de la Fuente's side to secure a 2-1 victory over the Three Lions.

When the final whistle was blown, the Glasgow native decided he wanted to inflict some further misery on England supporters. He did so with a cheeky dig on X, which riled a large number of supporters.

On X, he said: "Did it come home then?" At the time of writing, Menzies' tweet has been viewed more than 133,000 times. While Three Lions fans didn't much enjoy the five-word tweet, Scotland supporters on social media lapped it out.

It served as a low blow to England fans who suffered their second major tournament final defeat. Spain took control of the first half thanks to a slick finish from Nico Williams.

Cole Palmer brought England back level by finishing off a free-flowing team move from 20 yards out. But as England looked like they were getting back into the game, Oyarzabal prodded a perfect low cross from Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella past a helpless Jordan Pickford.

After the match, Southgate said: “Our players have been incredible, they’ve given everybody some incredible nights,” Southgate said after the game. “They couldn’t have given anymore in terms of their effort, their desire, their character.
