Scott Wright reveals 'critical' Rangers rejuvenation factor that has turbocharged title challenge

Scott Wright has revealed that Rangers ' winter getaway to La Mange has been key to turbocharging their title challenge.

Philippe Clement 's side have won all five of their matches since returning from Spain and sit just three points behind rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership with a game in hand. The goal difference between the sides is only two and if the Light Blues beat Ross County at Ibrox next Wednesday by three goals, then they'll hit poll for the first time this season.

The league action takes a backseat this weekend as the fifth round of the Scottish Cup kicks off. Gers still have a quadruple on the cards after lifting the Viaplay Cup, but former Celtic skipper Scott Brown will be out to prevent that when he takes his Ayr United side to Govan. But Rangers are on a roll and Wright admits the foundations were laid in January after the Old Firm defeat to Celtic.

"The manager came in and it was tough to start with because he couldn't do much with us on the training pitch because there was a game every two or three days," he said. "The break in La Manga has been great for us. It was absolutely critical for us, to be honest.

"He has been able to implement more of his ideas and a bit of his style and you can see that on the pitch, the things he wanted to change. It is a case of us trying to put the building blocks in place that he has put in and take it step by step in the right direction.

"As I touched on, it was so difficult for him to get his ideas across to us in the two or three days that he had with us on the training pitch. That camp was good for us because we could work on those things and had time to try and implement them."
