Scott McTominay lands ultimate Man Utd decision on future amid Old Trafford U-turn

Scotland star Scott McTominay has been offered a new long-term contract by Manchester United - less than a year after he was considered surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Last summer, West Ham showed interest in the 27-year-old who was open to leaving United for more regular play time. At the start of the season, manager Erik ten Hag didn't pick him for the first four English Premier League games, casting doubt on his future with the team. However, he has since become a key part of the United squad.

He's scored nine goals and made three assists in 34 appearances this season, making him the team's second highest scorer after Rasmus Hojlund. The Daily Star reports that United are planning to offer McTominay a new contract as a reward for his improved performance this season. His current contract, which pays him £60,000 per week, has 15 months left, and the club can extend it by another year if they choose.

While there's no rush for United to secure him now, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to lock McTominay into a longer contract and give him a pay rise. The club is prepared to double his weekly salary to £120,000, which could deter other clubs from trying to sign him in the summer transfer window.
