Neal Maupay aims 'desperate' dig at Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay

Brentford striker Neal Maupay has aimed a tongue-in-cheek dig at Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

United were held in the capital after Mason Mount's first goal for the club was cancelled out by a late equaliser from Kristoffer Ajer. Erik ten Hag's side took an unlikely lead in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time when the former Chelsea midfielder finished with aplomb.

However, moments later, Ivan Toney's cutback was finished by Danish defender Ajer. Throughout the contest, United were under sustained pressure with Toney hitting the post and forcing Andre Onana into a reflex save, while Byran Mbuemo rattled the crossbar after the Bees had 31 shots on goal.

The two sides settled for a point but the game wasn't shy of flashpoints. Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof both withdrew in the second-half through injury as United's casualty list mounts.

Late on, Maupay and McTominay were involved in an altercation off the ball as Brentford looked to make a late attack. Simon Hooper booked both players for their involvement in the incident and the outspoken Frenchman couldn't resit a jibe at the Scotland international.

He posted on Instagram: "This fan was desperate for my shirt," in the latest spat involving the Everton loanee.
