Scott Brown skinned as Celtic legend left for dead by Ayr United colleague before she scores Somerset screamer

Scott Brown helped guide Ayr United to Scottish Championship safety after taking over the top job.

But the Celtic hero could not save himself as he suffered a moment to forget after pulling his boots back on. The former Scotland and Hoops captain was back in the thick of the action on the Somerset Park turf and as he tracked back during the match to put in a challenge, his colleague Clare Docherty - who is the Head of Woman’s and girls academy at the club - showed some incredible footwork as she turned away from the boss before scoring a screamer from range.

Clearly delighted with her big moment, she took to social media to share the clip and posted on X: "Not every day you get to skin Scott Brown and score." As the video progresses you can see Brown give her a shout and smile as she celebrates with her team-mates in a real highlight.

Brown and Co finished the campaign in seventh spot as they secured their status in the second tier for next season. Going into the final game of the season, safety was already secured as they shared a six-goal thriller with Dunfermline. After Mark McKenzie's opener, the Pars hit three goals in a ten minute spell before the end of the first period through Chris Kane's double and Joshua Edwards. But Ayr rallied back with goals from Lucas McRoberts and Anton Dowds securing a final day point in a spirited comeback.
