Scotland squad announcement LIVE as Steve Clarke picks offer window to World Cup thinking

Today was supposed to be an important day in our nation's footballing history.

Just weeks ago we all had today marked down as the date we'd find out the stars tasked with taking Scotland to their first World Cup since 1998.

Recent geopolitical events had other ideas and before we get into footballing matters it goes without saying thoughts go out to Ukraine and especially their national team.

But back to our own matters with a friendly against Poland confirmed instead of our play-off on March 24 and Steve Clarke has some decisions to make when it comes to his first squad in four months.

In defence neither Nathan Patterson of Everton nor Motherwell's Stephen O'Donnell are getting much game time.

Leeds' Liam Cooper and Hearts' John Souttar may need replaced after injuries and the Aaron Hickey bandwagon is calling for his inclusion.

A reshuffle up top may also be required after Kevin Nisbet's season-ender and Lyndon Dykes' fitness woes.
