Scotland fans earn free Euro 2024 tickets after 'horror film' accommodation nightmare

A leading betting firm stepped in to hand Scotland fans tickets for Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with Switzerland in Cologne after they suffered an accommodation experience from hell in the lead-up to the crucial Euro 2024 clash.

On Sunday, X (formerly known as Twitter) user Rory Bradley shared a series of posts and images detailing the horrendous conditions he and his friend found in their living space in nearby Duren that they has booked online ahead of the trip. The Tartan Army loyals were shocked to find that one of the beds was: "made out of cardboard and also held together by duct tape" while the sofa bed was "falling apart, mouldy, dusty and dirty."

After getting in touch with their booking agent, the duo - who didn't have tickets for the Group A meeting with Switzerland - were sent to another property around midnight, only to find that the replacement accommodation place "like something out of a horror film." In his social media post, Bradley described the new property as being littered with "abandoned hospital beds, abandoned equipment and rubble and planks of wood lying all over the place."

Bradley then launched a last-gasp appeal on social media to try and get tickets for the game at the RheinEnergieStadio. After being made aware of their situation Sky Bet came to the rescue by dishing out two match tickets for the match against the Swiss as part of their campaign to "celebrate modern football fans and enhance their matchday experiences". Sky Bet's PR and content manager Daniel Sales was delighted that they were able to lend a hand and save the day.
