Savio, Olmo, Foden - What Man City's dream squad could look like in 2029 with four new signings
As the country moves on from the general election drama of the last few days and a new government gets settled in, it is now likely that voters will not go to the polls until 2029 after years of change at Westminster.
2029 feels a long time away, and in politics it probably is. Similarly, in football, we rarely give ourselves the chance to look so far forward when there are so many games to win and players to sign right now.
In Manchester City's case, the club are good at signing players on long-term contracts and future-proofing their assets. Pep Guardiola is unlikely to be in charge in another five years, while there is currently only one contracted player for the 2028/29 season.

That man is Oscar Bobb, who made good progress last season and will hope to have nailed down his place in the team as he gets older - he will be 25 by the end of that season.
There are seven players under contract until 2028, with a few of those likely to be offered extensions in the next four years. Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol seem like good bets to be at City in 2029, as does Jeremy Doku if he continues his good form from last season. Phil Foden has a deal until 2027 but will surely not depart.
Then there is Julian Alvarez, who has been the subject of reports linking him with an exit, as well as three midfielders less likely to be Blues by the end of their contracts - Kalvin Phillips, Maximo Perrone and Matheus Nunes.
