Kalvin Phillips asking price set as Man City star attracts interest from Saudi Arabia

Kalvin Phillips has reportedly requested a move away from Manchester City this summer.

The 28-year-old, who was named on the bench for their pre-season friendly against AC Milan on Saturday, spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham in search of regular game time. Phillips returned to City at the end of the season and is now keen to depart the Etihad once again, but this time on a permanent transfer.

According to Football Insider, Phillips has asked to leave City having struggled to settle since his big-money move from Leeds two years ago. It's added that City have been looking for another loan for him ahead of the 2024/25 season, but the player would prefer a permanent switch.

It's reported that City are willing to let him go and have set an asking price in the region of £20m. That would represent a loss on the £42million they splashed out for him. During his time in Manchester, Phillips has made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.

Elsewhere, City are still in the race for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo. According to journalist Dean Jones, Pep Guardiola's men have 'firm interest' in the Spain international and don't have any doubt over his quality. It's claimed that it's not 'impossible' for City to sign Olmo, who could be available for around £50m this summer.

Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo reportedly has interest from Saudi Arabia. According to Sport, as translated and relayed by Football Espana, Al-Ahli and Al-Ettifaq are both willing to pay the £25million asking price set by City, who are supposedly 'desperate' to part ways with the defender.
