Savannah Marshall knows she "can't rely on my power" against Claressa Shields (exclusive)

With a few more days to go, Savannah Marshall can’t wait to get her hands on Claressa Shields.

It comes after her clash with Shields was rescheduled as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Marshall’s middleweight title unification bout against Shields will now take place on October 15 at London’s O2 Arena.

The contest is officially back on having originally been set for September 10 before being postponed as a result of The Queen’s passing.

Marshall will put her WBO world title belt up for grabs against unified WBA, WBC and IBF middleweight champion Shields, knowing she will become undisputed at 160lbs should she come out on top.

Throughout her career, Marshall has generally been seen as something of a power puncher, with Shields considered the more technical of the two.

However, Marshall said it’s going to take a complete performance to take the belts from Shields, which is why she must be prepared for the fight to go the distance.

She said she hopes Shields is doing the same.

“No, I can’t rely on my power,” she exclusively told GiveMeSport.com. “I’ve got to use all my skills, all of my attributes.

“I’m expecting a tough fight, that’s what I’ve trained for, and if I don’t get one I’ll be very disappointed.

“Christina Hammer is a really good fighter but she’s nothing like me. I’ve seen Christina Hammer box. So if she’s comparing me to her that’s a big mistake.”

Marshall also clapped back at Shields’ suggestion that she has faced a lower level of competition despite the pair sharing several common opponents.
