Saudi-bound Pitso gives SA coaches, players blueprint for career outside the PSL

Pitso Mosimane urged South African football coaches and players not to think small and to leave the country for a career abroad in North Africa, Asia and Europe.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach has penned a two-year deal with Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Ahli, three months after leaving Egyptian giants Al Ahly as his coaching career continues outside South Africa's top-flight.

Speaking to the media in Johannesburg before his flight to Jeddah with his coaching staff, Mosimane says South African coaches and players must test the waters outside of the country.

He says it's not easy, but there is a path and blueprint they can follow and use strategically.

Mosimane also praised Benni McCarthy, Fadlu Davids and Roger de Sa for their recent moves abroad.

McCarthy has taken the world by storm, becoming the Manchester United first team coach, specifically working with the club's attacking players.

Davids rekindled with former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer in Russia. The former Maritzburg United player will serve as Zinnbauer's assistant at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Meanwhile, De Sa continues as former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz's sidekick as assistant coach of Iran.
