10 years on, Hunt dedicates SuperSport win to the late Madigage: 'I miss you so much!'

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt dedicated their DStv Premiership victory against Stellenbosch FC to his former assistant Thomas Madigage.

Madigage, affectionately known as Tommy, tragically died in a car accident 10 years ago on this day - 19 October 2012.

At the time, he was the Bafana Bafana assistant coach working with Gordan Igesund at the senior national team.

Prior to his gig with Bafana, Madigage worked closely with Hunt and played a key role in helping guide SuperSport to their treble-winning league titles between 2007 and 2010.

"Today, we will be be playing in honour of you my friend," Hunt said on Tuesday during a heartfelt Twitter post about the legendary South African footballer.

"The loyalty you showed towards me was unmatched. I miss you so much Tommy, my right hand man.

"Would never be where I was if it wasn't for you. Think of you often since I've been back at SuperSport United."

Madigage donned the colours of SuperSport for a decade. It propelled him to legendary status at the club, with more than 150 appearances, netting 23 goals as fast-running midfielder.

He also represented Bafana as player in the early- and mid-1990s.

Tuesday's 2-0 win at Danie Craven Stadium catapulted Hunt's outfit to the summit of the log standings, dethroning Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, who have two games in hand.

After the victory, Hunt took to Twitter again: "Today's 3 points were for you Tommy!"
