Sam Lammers receives Rangers love bombs from the boss as outcast talked up despite drawing a blank vs Leeds

Sam Lammers has earned rave reviews despite drawing a blank for the Rangers B team vs Leeds United as his wait to exit Ibrox goes on.

The top team spent time in Lammers' homeland at a pre-season training camp and took in two games including an outing with Dutch giants Ajax but he was posted missing from the trip and instead involved in a bounce game with a host of youngsters. Michael Beale shelled out a substantial fee last summer to land the attacker from Atalanta but he never ever hit the ground running in Glasgow and was shipped out in January by Philippe Clement to Eredivisie outfit Utrecht. He found a rich vein of form in the Netherlands but nothing has materialised so far this summer for the 27-year-old, who is all but certain to head for the exit door.

Clement has already stated he must sell in order to fund his summer spree and Lammers is one of those who will be available at the right price. His signing has proved an abject fail with his future destined to be away from Govan come close of the transfer window. Asked about the benefits of the likes of Lammers appearing for the B team, Malky Thomson told RTV: "It's great and I think credit to the players. The older players coming in. Robbie Fraser, Sam Lammers and the other ones that played. There is a real good feel about the group when they come together. We don't have the privilege of regular training together so when it comes to a match day we get some players from the first-team, we have some younger ones and a core group ourselves. But it manages to gel together and I thought they gelled together today."
