Sam Lammers in defiant Rangers transfer flop stance as he declares 'I developed well' after Utrecht loan lifeline
Defiant Sam Lammers insists he has "developed well" during his time at Rangers - despite being shipped out on loan after just six months.
The Dutch striker moved to Ibrox in the summer for around £3.5million from Atalanta after catching Michael Beale's eye while on loan at Sampdoria in Serie A last term. However, new boss Philippe Clement has now sanctioned a loan for the rest of the campaign to free up wages which could allow him to add to his own Ibrox squad this month - with Lammers netting just two goals so far this term.
There is no clause for Utrecht to sign Lammers permanently and he also still has another two years left on his Rangers contract - and despite being considered a flop by many of the punters the forward has flipped the script on that narrative. Speaking in his first Utrecht interview, he hyped up the Ibrox learning curve.
Quizzed on his time in the Scottish Premiership, he said: "I learned a lot. I have played football in different countries, different places, experienced a lot of situations, won prizes against relegation and played at other clubs.
"I have played under a lot of different types of pressure and situations. I experienced a lot (at Rangers) I played matches and gained experience, so in that respect I think I developed well last year."
