Salah, Ronaldo, Lewandowski: 8 fastest CL hat-tricks after Liverpool star smashes record

Mohamed Salah scored a clinical hat-trick across six scintillating minutes as Liverpool battered Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Jurgen Klopp unusually opted to bench the star for the clash, selecting a front three that included Roberto Firmino, Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez.

But when the Egyptian entered proceedings late in the second half, he wasted absolutely no time in tearing apart the Rangers backline.

It's not just the fact Salah has smashed the existing record for the fastest hat-trick in Champions League history.

His goals were simply sublime. Which, for a player that has been drastically struggling for form so far this campaign, could provide a huge boost for him across Liverpool's upcoming matches.

His first goal was a typically Salah-esque finish in which the Egyptian toe-poked home from a tight angle, completely catching goalkeeper Allan McGregor unaware.

Whilst the second goal was arguably the best of the bunch.

Salah was surrounded by three Rangers defenders on the edge of the box, but proved he was the coolest man in the place by calmy putting his foot on the ball and using his opponent's body to disguise a cheeky shot into the near corner.

His third goal was once again typical of the man scoring it. Cutting in from the right, Salah curled the ball around the outside of the defender and into the far post.

It really was clinical finishing personified and a hat-trick that will live long in the memory of Liverpool fans.

From the moment his first strike hit the back of the net, it took Salah just six minutes and 12 seconds to round off his trio of goals.

So, how does that compare to other ultra-fast Champions League hat-tricks?

8. Luiz Adriano (12 mins): BATE Borisov 0-7
