Ryan Reynolds and Manchester United send heartfelt messages to Wrexham's Paul Mullin

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds led the messages of support to Paul Mullin after the striker suffered a punctured lung against Manchester United.

The incident occurred just 13 minutes into the game after a long ball forward saw Mullin rush through on goal. In an attempt to clear the danger, United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop came out of his area and clattered into the 28-year-old.

Bishop was booked by the referee but attention soon turned to Mullin who was lying in considerable pain on the pitch. Several physios treated the forward with a stretcher also brought onto the field.

After five minutes, Mullin was helped into an upright position but needed oxygen as he gingerly made his way off the pitch on foot. After the match, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson confirmed his star man had punctured his lung.

Responding to the news Reynolds, who was watching from London where he is filming Deadpool 3, wrote on Twitter: "Paul Mullin puts his last drop of blood into everything he does. The entire Wrexham community is pulling for a speedy recovery."

United also sent their best wishes to the Wrexham player, adding: "Wishing you a speedy recovery, Paul - and all the best for the 2023/24 season."

The Red Dragons won the game 3-1 against a youthful United side. Elliot Lee opened the scoring from close range just before the half hour mark. Aaron Hayden headed home to make it 2-0 less than 10 minutes later.

The transfer window is in full swing and United have already got their hands on two players, with Mason Mount and Andre Onana through the door at Old Trafford
