Russell Martin to Southampton Live: Updates as new name enters the frame to take over at Swansea City

It's now been three weeks since news broke that Russell Martin was on the brink of a move to Southampton.

But after what's clearly been an extensive wrangle over compensation, he remains in the hot-seat at the Swansea.com Stadium, officially anyway.

Martin is still expected to make the move to St Mary's as the Saints look to build their way back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but the glacial pace of his exit is surely becoming a frustration. Get the latest Swansea news sent to your inbox here.

Attention has started to drift towards the matter of who will replace Martin in SA1. Chris Davies, who was previously the bookies' favourite, is understood to very much still be in the mix, although reported interest from Tottenham may complicate the landscape a little.

However, a new name has cropped up over the last 24 hours, with reports from Belgium claiming that former Club Brugge boss Carl Hoefkens is a possible option being considered, although again the Swans could face competition, this time from Leicester City.
