Russell Martin to Southampton Live updates as head coach wants two Swansea City stars at Saints

Russell Martin's Swansea City exit has dragged on into a new week.

The current Swans boss is still set to join newly-relegated Southampton, who clearly feel Martin is the man to mastermind a route back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

A dispute over compensation has held things up, with there being some dispute over whether Southampton were still a Premier League club when they made their approach.

It's an important detail as there's a clause in Martin's contract in regards to the compensation required to prise him away from SA1, with a higher fee applying to interested clubs from the Premier League.

The matter is expected to be resolved, but with eight weeks until the new season, the hold-up has clearly not helped Swansea's preparations for what will be an important summer.

Attention has already turned to Martin's successor, with former Swans coach Chris Davies among the strong contenders in the frame, although it's understood he's not alone at this stage.
