As we prepare to leave Japan after a fascinating week, it’s pretty understandable that the Manchester City players might be missing some of their home comforts.

Luckily for them then, they managed to get a taste of Manchester on Tuesday, at an event that saw Erling Haaland, John Stones and Cole Palmer serve pie, chips and gravy to local fans.

They were free to select from delicacies such as Haaland's hot pies, chips and different gravy, Palmer’s (mushy) peas and wash it all down with a Stones-endorsed proper brew. As I set off for Seoul, a few of those home comforts would be welcomed; most notably, you guessed it, working Wi-Fi.

After further troubleshooting and more calls with IT at 1am, the issue looked to have finally solved itself once again for the second match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. It worked well pre-match, and thankfully saw me through to half-time, but the second the final whistle blew it crashed again.

What ensued was a stressful hour of only having iPhone notes available as I went solo to Pep Guardiola’s presser, asking questions, recording the coverage and then attempting to transcribe it all from my phone notes. I think we just about managed.

My cause was helped by Pep’s punctuality when a day earlier he had been half an hour late for his press conference because he was so enthralled in a chat with Bayern counterpart Thomas Tuchel.
