Ruben Amorim sacked LIVE updates as Man United make huge manager decision

Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim. Following his side’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Sunday, Amorim delivered an explosive press conference in which he insisted he is the manager, not the coach, of United and challenged his sporting director and scouting department “to do their job”.

He also hinted he could leave when his current deal runs out in 18 months' time – if he isn't sacked before then. However, the United hierarchy have now decided to bring his tenure to a sudden end.

Former midfielder and current Under-18s coach Darren Fletcher is expected to take charge on an interim basis. His first game is away at Burnley on Wednesday night, with a permanent appointment likely to wait until the summer.

Speaking at Elland Road, Amorim said: “Guys, to stop with that - and I noticed that you receive selective information about everything - I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United."

Before he added: "I just want to say that I'm going to be the manager of this
