BREAKING: Manchester United sack Ruben Amorim after stunning Leeds rant
Manchester United have sacked Ruben Amorim as head coach after a breakdown in relations with club bosses was laid bare in a remarkable press conference after the draw with Leeds. Amorim's strained relationship with director of football Jason Wilcox has been brought into the open by the 40-year-old in recent weeks and his outburst on Sunday has proved to be the final straw.
The Portuguese was informed on Monday morning that he was being sacked and he leaves the club with immediate affect. He departs with a record of just 24 wins in 63 games. "So that was my point, I want to finish with that. I'm not going to quit. I will do my job until the other guy is coming here to replace me.
"I just want to say that I'm going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. And I was really clear on that. And that is going to finish in 18 months and then everyone is going to move on. That was the deal. That is my job, not to be a coach.
