Ruben Amorim Man United "approach" backed as Paul Scholes questions transfers and squad

Ex-Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has said that the club "still feels like a mess" after Ruben Amorim's settling-in period, with concerns about how new and existing players are being used amid poor results - but United fans in the Manchester Evening News comments section say that they trust the process, and ex-players should back the club to the hilt.

Speaking during a fan debate on Sky Bet's The Overlap, Scholes said: “Look, I’m not at the point where I’m thinking it’s the wrong decision [to appoint Amorim] because he’s came into a mess and still feels like a mess, but the rest."

Scholes went on to say that he doesn't see "a core of players" at the club, recommending a new goalkeeper, two centre-backs, two midfielders, and another two centre-forwards to be added to Manchester United's shopping list in the near future. Amorim will be hoping to be backed by the Ineos ownership in the summer to reshape the squad in his image.

The criticism annoyed some United fans, who want Amorim to be given a fair amount of time to make his mark. Reader Tonyunited says: "Can't believe so many United fans are already wanting Amorim out, he's been in the job 5 minutes. He is working with mediocre players, give him the time, and the players that can actually play in the system he wants. For God's sake, give him a fair chance."
