Roy Keane explains why Harry Maguire 'frightens Manchester United team-mates to death'

Roy Keane has named the three Manchester United players who he believes are not able to implement one of Erik ten Hag's tactics.

United suffered their first defeat since the turn of the year against Fulham at the weekend. The Reds had previously won four consecutive matches in the top-flight to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Wednesday night saw United take a break from league action to face Nottingham Forest in the fifth-round of the FA Cup. A late Casemiro goal saw Ten Hag's side claim a welcome 1-0 victory to set up a quarter-final tie at home to Liverpool.

And speaking on the Stick to Football podcast from Sky Bet, Keane spoke about Ten Hag's strategy of pressing opposition teams out of possession, where he named Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford as players who are not suited to that system.

He said: "They [Manchester United] aren’t pressing up. I don’t want to be just pinning it on [Harry] Maguire, but there’s always that worry with Man United coming up and squeezing the pitch like all the other top teams are doing.

“There’s that worry with him [Maguire] all the time – that’s where there is gaps. They are frightened to death to come all the way up because they’re thinking ‘anything over the top, he’d be in trouble’.”

The former United captain went on to add: “Manchester United haven’t got the players to [press].

"[Bruno] Fernandes is not going to do it. Rashford won’t do it, they might do it for five or ten minutes, so if you’ve got a team that’s not going to press – we’re
