Roy Keane and Alan Shearer say same thing about Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United

Roy Keane and Alan Shearer have both said they feel sorry for Rasmus Hojlund amid the start of his Manchester United career, albeit for different reasons.

Hojlund is the club’s top scorer this season with five goals, all of which have come in the Champions League. The attacker arrived for £72million in the summer but is yet to find the net in nine Premier League matches.

Many have pointed to the lack of service the striker is getting with United far from their best despite winning four of their last five league outings. Wins over Brentford, Sheffield United, Fulham and Luton have all come by one-goal margins and often via late strikes.

Nevertheless, fans have been impressed with Hojlund’s performances so far, giving hope that the 20-year-old has the ability to be a key part of United’s future despite the club's tricky start. Speaking ahead of the Manchester derby, Keane explained that Hojlund may have found it difficult to get back up to full speed after arriving at the club injured.

He said: "You do feel sorry for Hojlund because you always worry when a player comes to your club off the back of an injury and never gets up to speed and takes him a few months.”

Meanwhile, Shearer said he had sympathy with Hojlund given the big price tag over his head and the fact he has been asked to be the main goal-getter at his tender age. Aside from his debut against Arsenal, the Dane has started every league and European game this season but was benched for United’s two League Cup ties.
