Ross McCrorie edges towards Aberdeen transfer exit as Rangers to bank sell on fee if £2m departure agreed

Bristol City are closing in on a £2 million deal for Aberdeen star Ross McCrorie.

The English Championship club have been in discussions with the Dons over the last week. The Robins are close to agreeing a deal that will see them sign the Aberdeen vice-captain when the transfer window opens in the summer. Bristol City’s technical director Brian Tinnion was at Pittodrie yesterday to watch McCrorie lead the Dons to a famous 2-0 win over Rangers. Former club Rangers will also be due a percentage of any fee as part of their sale to Aberdeen back in 2021, although he was on-loan initially.

Once terms are agreed between the clubs then McCrorie will be given permission to open talks. The 25-year-old has been a standout for Aberdeen under Barry Robson and Bristol have been long-term admirers. Bristol boss Nigel Pearson refused to comment when he was asked about McCrorie last week. The deal will see Aberdeen make a tidy profit on the six figure fee that they paid Rangers.

McCrorie has already had a spell south of the border after his successful loan spell at Portsmouth back in 2019-20, when he was still at Ibrox.
