Ronnie O'Sullivan destroying fellow professional snooker players in interview is still so savage

Six-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan is renowned for his honest and sometimes controversial comments, and that was never truer than in 2020 when he gave a brutal summary of why he was still competing for titles.

The interview came after the world’s most successful player progressed into the last eight of the world championship, defeating Ding Junhui in the process.

When asked by a reporter if he thought he would still be at the top after over 25 years, O’Sullivan – who is still ranked second in the world – hit back with a scathing reply.

“If you’d asked me back then, I’d say probably not, but when you look at the standard of play, I’d say yeah.

“If you look at the young players, they’re not that good really.

“Most of them would probably be half decent amateurs. Well, not even amateurs. They’re so bad.”

He went on to win the championship, defeating Kyren Wilson in the final and earning himself his sixth world title.

“A lot of them you look at and think, I’ve got a lose an arm and a leg to fall out of the top 50.

“That’s why we’re still hovering around, jut because of how poor it is.”

Reacting to the comments, the reporter says: “It’s not that bad!”

O’Sullivan then hit back brutally with: “Well, it is.”

We don’t know if O’Sullivan’s iconic interview is accurate, but we can all agree that it is incredible to still be playing at the highest level after almost a quarter of a century.
