Ronnie O'Sullivan sets minimum World Snooker Championship campaigns to come

Ronnie O’Sullivan will only guarantee that he will play at two more World Snooker Championships, although Judd Trump reckons he could still be around for 10 or 15 more years.

The Rocket claimed his seventh Crucible title on Monday night as he beat Judd Trump 18-13 in impressive fashion, equalling Stephen Hendry’s record for world titles.

At 46 years old he became the oldest world champion in history, but there seem to be no signs of slowing down as O’Sullivan sits atop the world rankings and holding the biggest title in the sport.

Earlier in the season he spoke about playing three more World Championships and he has reiterated that is the plan with two more to go, although he says that is just a minimum and there could be more to come.

‘I’ve had a good record here, the last 10 years, I think I’ve had five finals, four wins so it’s going alright,’ O’Sullivan told talkSPORT.

‘If I can get another two World Championships out, that’ll be great. We’ll assess it from there. that’s a minimum, I’ve given myself a minimum of doing that.

‘Beyond that, we’ll have to wait and see. I like playing in the smaller events, I just like playing.

‘I enjoy my work away from snooker, I’m not all in with snooker. I think that was a problem this week, I became all in. I got emotionally involved and it’s hard not to at this tournament.’

Speaking in November, Ronnie said: ‘If I get another three World Championships, I’ve got a goal to keep me playing for at least another three World Championships.

‘Once that comes it might be a good time, I’ll be 49 then, it might be a good time to focus on other things I’ve got going on and just focus on them.’

The beaten finalist can see the Rocket playing for a lot more than two more Crucible campaigns,
