Ronnie McKinnon dies at 83 as Rangers lead tributes to Hall of Fame legend

Ronnie McKinnon has died at the age of 83, Rangers have announced.

The former defender is a member of the Premiership side's Hall of Fame after winning two league titles, four Scottish Cups and three League Cups, while he was also capped 28 times by Scotland. MacKinnon spent his entire career at Ibrox and went on to make hundreds of appearances over 12 years.

His national team debut came in a 1–0 win over Italy at Hampden in 1965, where Rangers teammate John Greig had scored a memorable late winner. A club statement provided a tribute to the club legend. It reads: "Everyone associated with Rangers Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player, Ronnie McKinnon, at the age of 83. The club extends our sympathy to Elizabeth, his widow, and all his family. The family request that their privacy is respected at this sad time. The club will pay further tribute to Mr McKinnon in due course."
