Frank Lampard WON'T be next Rangers manager as Chelsea legend misses out on final interviews

Frank Lampard will NOT be the new manager of Rangers.

Record Sport understands Ibrox chiefs have decided against appointing the 45-year-old amid growing opposition from the club’s already furious fan base. Chief executive James Bisgrove remained in Glasgow this week while caretaker boss Steve Davis was left to preside over the disastrous Europa League defeat to Aris Limassol in Cyprus. The Chelsea legend and former Blues manager had held talks to replace Michael Beale at Ibrox as revealed by Record Sport with Yokohama Marinos boss Kevin Muscat also holding a remote discussion over the vacant hot-seat.

But Bisgrove is now set to push through with the appointment process, with final stage interviews due to be held next week. Lampard will not be part of those discussions. The likes of Oliver Glasner previously of Eintracht Frankfurt and Philippe Clement who was last at Monaco have been linked with the job, with interim boss Davis leading a coaching team for the game against St Mirren on Sunday.

It comes off the back of a calamitous 2-1 defeat to Aris Limassol in the Europa League.
