Manchester United managed to put a happy ending onto a disastrous season as they defeated Brentford 3-0 in their final match of the campaign at Old Trafford.

Though United still have trips to Brighton and Crystal Palace to play, a quirk in the fixture list due to Chelsea's participation in the FA Cup final means that they have now played their final home game. Thankfully, Ralf Rangnick's side managed to put an end to their winless run with a good display against the Bees.

It was one of United's best home performances of the season as Juan Mata's inclusion in the starting XI made them look like a more cohesive attacking unit. It was Bruno Fernandes who scored the opener, though, as he volleyed in Anthony Elanga's cross.

Cristiano Ronaldo thought he'd doubled the lead before VAR ruled it out for off-side but the Portuguese did grab his 24th goal of the season from the spot in the second half. In contrast, Raphael Varane got just his first goal for the club to round off the scoring, powering in a header from Alex Telles' corner.

"There must have been a sale," Keane said as Carragher laughed in disbelief.
