Ronaldo in fresh Erik ten Hag blast over Man Utd mentality as Portuguese icon demands Old Trafford reset

Cristiano Ronaldo has launched a fresh blast at Erik ten Hag, questioning the Man Utd boss' mentality.

The Portuguese has dug out the Dutchman for admitting that Utd can't compete for the Premier League title and Champions League after a disappointing eighth [;ace finish last term. Ten Hag did lift the FA Cup by beating rivals Man City at Wembley - a result that is widely accepted to have saved the former Ajax boss' job.

Ten Hag recent'y defended his record, asking which other managers has won more trophies at him with the Old Trafford club in recent years. But Ronaldo, who was axed by the United boss in 2022 before publicly laying into his former gaffer in an interview with Piers Morgan, has hit out again in an appearance on former Utd teammate Rio Ferdinand's podcast. He said: "The coach says they cannot compete to win the [Premier] League and Champions League.

As Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you're not going to fight to win the league or Champions League. Mentally [you can] say maybe we don't have that potential, but I cannot say that. We're going to try, you have to try.

What I wish for Manchester [United], it's what I wish for me - [to be] the best team they can. I love that club... I'm not that kind of guy that forgot the past."

The former Real Madrid icon has told United what they must do to get back to the level he feels they should be at. He added: "They need to rebuild everything, in my opinion.

"The club needs time to rebuild because it's still one of the best clubs in the world, but they need to change. They understand that this is the only way.
