Roman Kemp told 'so proud of you' as he makes emotional plea to government after depression battle
Roman Kemp has addressed his personal struggle with depression in an emotional plea to the government in a bid to help young sufferers. The Capital FM presenter took to his Instagram on Wednesday (Sept 6) to share an open letter pleading with the government to increase the number of mental health support teams in schools.
It comes as Martin Kemp's son, who was recently announced as a permanent presenter on The One Show with co-host Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, spoke candidly about his struggle with depression after the death of his close friend and Capital FM producer Joe Lyons.
The Capital FM DJ, 30, who has hosted his own breakfast show since 2017, lost his colleague to suicide in August 2020, aged 31. In 2021, Roman then presented a BBC Three documentary exploring the mental health crisis facing young men and revealed he had considered taking his own life after battling depression for more than a decade.

Speaking about the documentary and the loss of his friend on The One Show, Roman previously told Alex Jones and Rylan Clark-Neal: "I lost my absolute best friend, my brother. He's been by my side work-wise and throughout my social life. Joe Lyons, or as other people would know him - Producer Joe.
"It ripped my whole life apart and I could not understand it. I couldn't understand what had happened. It ripped my life, his whole family and his close friends, our team, everything."
