Rod Stewart slams 'sanctimonious' Simon Jordan as Celtic daft rocker tells shock jock 'we can't all be Rob Roy'

Rod Stewart has blasted back at Simon Jordan for his attack on Scottish football as the duo's war of words continued.

TalkSport co-host Jordan claimed newly crowned Premiership champions Celtic and Rangers would struggle in the English Championship as he clashed with former Ibrox boss Graeme Souness. That prompted Stewart to hit back on Instagram, saying he "sick and tired of the constant deriding and disrespect of Scottish football" from the pundit – before telling Jordan to "shut the f*** up".

Stewart had texted host Jim White pointing him towards his account to make sure Jordan got the message. The former Crystal Palace owner responded by questioning how Scottish the rocker actually was and suggesting he should actually be a fan of Arsenal or Tottenham. he said: "He is from bloody Highgate (in London) for crying out loud. I only attack Scottish football because it is a low-hanging fruit – which is incidentally what you would find under Rod's kilt if you looked – but I realise Rod is a national treasure, and nobody wants to offend a national treasure

"But the flip side of this is that I have almost got to the point where I want to strangle myself with a pair of his unfathomably tight trousers if I need to listen to another story about his private jet.

But now Stewart has come back to blast Jordan once more. In a retort sent to Record Sport, he said: "The whole world knows I was born a Londoner so no big expose’ there, half the Scottish National team have English accents , we can’t all be Rob Roy.

"Criticise Scottish football all you want Jordan I’m fully aware of its shortcomings. But it’s the derogatory ,sanctimonious, disrespectful way you do it mate."
