Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch date confirmed as huge announcement made

Tyson Fury is set to take on Oleksandr Usyk for the second time this year on December 21.

Usyk previously claimed victory over Fury by a split decision in Riyadh on May 19, becoming the undisputed world heavyweight champion. The Brit decided to invoke his rematch clause last week, which now dictates that the rematch will take place four days before Christmas, instead of the initial October date.

The revised date was made official by Turki Alalshikh, Saudi Arabia's boxing chief who proclaimed: "The rematch between the Undisputed Champion Oleksandr Usyk and the Champion Tyson Fury is now scheduled on December 21, 2024 during Riyadh Season. The world will watch another historical fight again. Our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it."

On a similar note, Queensbury promoter, Frank Warren suggests that the second fight between them will be superior to their first battle. Addressing the unveiling of Queensbury's Magnificent Seven card on July 20, Warren shared with PA news agency: "I think it will be better than the original fight. They both know each other, they've shared the ring and they'll be looking to use what they've gained from the fight as an advantage to beat their opponent."

Usyk handed Fury his first professional defeat, and Warren has expressed confidence in the 'Gypsy King's' boxing legacy, which could be further solidified with a victory over Usyk. "I think his legacy is there," Warren remarked, via the Mirror.
