Robbie Keane casts verdict on Man City vs Liverpool title race

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Keane has given his prediction on the Premier League title race between Manchester City and the Reds.

Both teams remain separated by just a point after the weekend with City thrashing Watford 5-1 and Liverpool coming through a tense Merseyside derby with Everton as 2-0 victors. There are just five games to go, with the Premier League champions arguably having the easier run in.

City face Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and Wolves whereas Liverpool also take on Villa, Newcastle and Wolves as well as Tottenham and Southampton. Robbie Keane says the run-in schedule may indicate which way the title goes this time.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I can see that (City winning all games). You look at Man City, you would say they have the easier run-in.

“Liverpool, that Tottenham game stands out. I can’t see any of them slipping up. Something always happens in football, it’s just a matter of one team slipping up.”

City were once 14 points in January ahead of Liverpool having played two games more, before slip-ups against Southampton, Tottenham and Crystal Palace allowed Jurgen Klopp to close the gap. The league leaders didn’t replace Sergio Aguero in the summer and Keane suggested that City would have had the title wrapped up by now if they had managed to bring in a world class striker.

"Most of the Premier League that have been won (by teams) have always at least two or four top strikers.," he added. "(Gabriel) Jesus, even though he is a nine, he plays more on the right side.
