Road taped off as police make investigations into historical collision - latest updates

A major road in Salford has been closed this afternoon as police carry out investigations into a historical collision.

Liverpool Street is closed from Salford Community Fire Station to Egerton Street.

Pictures from the scene show a number of police vehicles at the scene, including a Serious Collision Unit (SCU) from GMP.

Investigators have been spotted carrying out investigation and reconstruction work at the scene this afternoon (May 16).

According to GMP, officers are at the scene to carry out investigation work relating to a serious crash in 2022. No further details about the nature of that crash have been revealed.

Drivers in the area have reported 'traffic chaos' and a number of diversions are currently in place.
