LIVE: Police close Heaton Moor Road in Stockport near railway station as services disrupted after person hit by train - latest updates

Emergency services descended on a Greater Manchester railway line after a person was hit by a train. Part of Heaton Moor Road was closed off in both directions near to Heaton Chapel station.

Meanwhile, rail services were disrupted between Piccadilly and Stockport. A Northern spokesperson posted on X: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport all lines are blocked.

"Network Rail and Emergency Services are on site." National Rail confirmed the disruption followed a person being hit by a train on the line.

It's understood the road closure was linked to the same incident. The road has since reopened while rail services have resumed full service.
