Rivals 'debate' vote against Rangers for SPFL election as simmering court battle weighs heavy on ballot

Scottish Premiership sides are reportedly debating whether to vote down a Rangers representative being elected to the SPFL board.

It comes with the Ibrox side set for court after being granted permission by the SFA amid their ongoing battle over their contentious cinch sponsorship row with league chiefs. Rangers chief executive James Bisgrove is in line to replace Celtic's Michael Nicholson this summer, however, he would need eight votes out of 12 for that to ratified. And the Daily Mail state that could be a potential problem with Rangers seeking money and an apology from the SPFL over their long-running sponsorship battle.

Bisgrove and chairman John Bennett have been vocal in their wish to mend relationships across Scottish football. But that belief comes amid a fresh legal debate between the Ibrox side and league chiefs over a looming fresh agreement with Loch Lomond Group – the company behind Glen's Vodka. Rangers have told their rivals they feel incapable of fulfilling the arrangements of a new agreement and that comes after the long-running cinch battle.

And all eyes will be on the next SPFL board meeting on July 17 as the nine-man board votes to decide who will be elected for the forthcoming season with the ongoing battle between the SPFL and Rangers rumbling on.

The Mail state league chief still retain belief they can reach an out-of-court settlement with the Ibrox side.
