Rio Ferdinand reveals what Frank Lampard was missing with Paul Pogba Manchester United criticism

Rio Ferdinand has explained a crucial detail Frank Lampard missed when he criticised Paul Pogba's performances for Manchester United.

The 29-year-old midfielder will leave Old Trafford officially at the end of the month when his contract expires. Pogba's second spell with United has been underwhelming with the Frenchman failing to lead the club to a serious title challenge.

Pogba now looks set to return to Juventus in the hope of rebuilding his career and while analysing that future move, Ferdinand pointed to Lampard's criticism of the Frenchman and explained one key detail his former England teammate missed.

He said on his YouTube channel: "I think any great player will always thank their teammates when they win individual honours or do anything they thank their teammates - that’s telling because that shows the importance, no one man can win it on his own. I think there’s a good piece that Frank Lampard did a few years ago talking about Pogba and he said, 'Pogba is quicker than me, stronger than me, Pogba’s a better dribbler than me, technically better than me but is he disciplined enough in areas of his game to get the best out of himself like dribbling and taking too much touches sometimes when he can play one or two touch?'.

"Frank had the efficiency in his game and got numbers that are unrivalled but different players in a lot of ways. What I’m saying is, identify what you’re good at and sticking to it but Frank was in a very much better, much more organised, better team than what Paul Pogba’s in right now.
