Reports from The Times claim Ronaldo has asked to be allowed to leave Old Trafford should the club receive a satisfactory offer this summer. The 37-year-old’s decision is said to be based on his desire to play Champions League football for the remainder of his career.

Ronaldo’s future has been a constant source of speculation since he made his return to Old Trafford last summer. United’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League has only served to fuel the fire that he could look to leave with a year still remaining on his contract.

Erik ten Hag’s primary objective is to replenish United’s midfield this summer.
