Rio Ferdinand explains why Manchester United should sign Harry Kane instead of Victor Osimhen

Former defender Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United would reduce the risk of getting their primary transfer mission wrong if they were to turn to Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane this forthcoming summer.

United, who registered a third successive Premier League win by beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground on Sunday, are set to prioritise the addition of a new striker ahead of next season, with goalscoring having been a problem that has persisted throughout the campaign. United have heavily relied on the contributions of Marcus Rashford and others have not been as prolific as they would have hoped to have been.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, United manager Erik ten Hag has earmarked England captain Kane as his top target. The Spurs striker is out-of-contract in north London in just over a year's time, meaning this forthcoming summer could represent United's best chance to extract him from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, United also remain keen on Napoli ace Victor Osimhen, who has plundered 25 goals in 30 appearances in Italy this season. The Nigerian has gained plenty of support and backing from Reds supporters, many of whom believe he would be a better long-term addition than Kane because of his age.

However, Ferdinand believes United, because of the current juncture they're at, would be better turning to Kane, who has established himself as one of the Premier League's greatest-ever strikers. He is a seasoned goalscorer in the division and Ferdinand is adamant now is not the time to be taking risks in the transfer market.
