Everton have had their struggles this season that have been further affected after cutting ties with Russian investor, Alisher Usmanov, which reportedly leaves the Toffees in a sticky situation when it comes to their transfer budgets going forward.

Now there is a huge question mark over the potential transfer activity Lampard will be able to achieve this summer.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist and transfer insider Dean Jones has revealed how Everton will have to fund their summer spending and it looks like there will need to be big changes to make it happen.

Jones told us: “Ultimately, they also need to make some money right now, selling their best players is the best way to do that.”

The prospect of selling their best players will be unsettling for the manager, the squad and ultimately the fans, but it is clear that the club need to transition and rebuild the team as what they’re doing right now isn’t sustainable for staying in the Premier League and that has been proven this season as they will be lucky to escape relegation.

Although a daunting prospect, selling and starting over for Everton could be the perfect opportunity to get back on track, especially if the club manages to escape the drop into the Championship. Lampard can start making his mark and building a team for the future by using the profits made on the potential sale of players at the end of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Jordan Pickford are three of the key players that have been linked with moves away from the club this summer, and despite being crucial to the club over the last few seasons in the Premier League each of them should bring in a healthy return if they were to be sold on.
