"Ideal" - Journalist drops fresh Everton transfer claim on "unplayable" £50m star

Allan Saint-Maximin would be an “ideal” signing for Everton, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Newcastle winger has spent the last three years on Tyneside, but his future at St James’ Park is far from certain.

Saint-Maximin has been one of Newcastle’s top performers this season, registering eight goal involvements in 28 appearances in the top-flight.

However, he has only scored once in 2022, and Eddie Howe appears to be losing patience with the talented forward.

It is understood that Newcastle would be willing to sell Saint-Maximin if they receive an offer in the region of £50m for him this summer, with Everton, Aston Villa and Wolves all interested in the 25-year-old.

Brown has admitted that Saint-Maximin is unlikely to join Everton as things stand, given that the Toffees are currently embroiled in a relegation battle.

He has believed for the best part of a year that the Frenchman would be a good fit at Goodison Park, though, due to the pace and trickery he offers on the wing.

When asked about Everton’s chances of landing Saint-Maximin, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “It looks out of reach at the moment. I’ve thought since last summer, when we found out that Rafael Benitez wanted to play quick, counter-attacking football with wingers, that Saint-Maximin was ideal for that kind of role.”

Richarlison was linked with a move to PSG last summer, and his days at Everton could be numbered, with it being claimed that Arsenal could make a move for the winger.

If the Brazilian does depart the Merseyside club, Saint-Maximin could be the player that Everton target to replace him.
