Residents speak of 'tragic' incident after man falls to his death from roof

Residents have spoken of the 'tragic' incident which saw a man fall to his death from a roof in Salford.

The Independent Office for Conduct (IOPC) says it's been 'notified' of the death after a man died in Eccles on Friday afternoon (today) after officers were called to a house over concerns for his welfare.

Greater Manchester Police said its officers were called at 12.30pm to reports of a 'concern for welfare' on Trevor Road in the Winton area.

Residents of Parrin Lane and the nearby area expressed their sadness at the tragic incident. A neighbour said: "I came home from work to my road cordoned off. I didn’t realise how serious it was until I’d read online what had happened.”

“It's tragic. My condolences to his family,” one passer-by said.

“How awful. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” another said.

Another resident added: “We weren’t here when it happened but there’s been nonstop police cars back and forth all afternoon, the fire brigade and forensics. The poor lad. I hope his family gets all the support they need now.”

Investigators from IOPC attended the scene of the incident and in a statement said it was notified of the
