Reo Hatate woe as Celtic hero's injury timeline revealed amid uphill Rangers return battle

Celtic star man Reo Hatate is facing a month on the sidelines and an uphill battle to be fit for next month's mouthwatering clash with Rangers at Ibrox.

The Japan international has reportedly suffered a grade two calf tear after sinking to the turf during the 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday. Hatate reminded everyone of his qualities as he climbed off the bench at half time and impressed with a series of key passes against the Dons.

The 25-year-old now faces up to four weeks out, according to the Daily Mail, and that puts him up against it to feature against Michael Beale's side on September 3 as the great rivals lock horns for the first time of the season. Hatate has been linked with a Parkhead exit but remains a key player despite starting both Premiership clashes on the bench as Brendan Rodgers plumped for David Turnbull. Brighton have been long-time admirers of the midfielder who has revealed his desire to head to one of the world's top five leagues in the coming years.

Celtic also face a sweat over Cameron Carter-Vickers after the defender was subbed at half time with a hamstring complaint but Rodgers shared his hope over the precautionary measure. The USA international missed the final month of last season following knee surgery and will hope to avoid another extended absence.
