Regan Charles-Cook 'extremely hurt' as Ross County star suffers 'online racist abuse' after Rangers draw

Ross County have revealed Regan Charles-Cook was subjected to online racist abuse after their clash with Rangers.

And the Dingwall club say they will be contacting the police to take things further.

Charles-Cook became the Scottish Premiership 's outright top scorer when he scored his side's second goal in a 3-3 draw in Dingwall.

His strike put his team in front on the brink of half-time and although Rangers rallied through James Tavernier and Connor Goldson, Matthew Wright's late effort secured a share of the points.

A County statement in the hours after the match claims the winger has been subject to vile online messages.

And they say they will soon be in contact with the police as they continue to support the 24-year-old.

A club statement said: "We are disappointed that our player Regan Charles-Cook has been subjected to racist abuse online following today’s match.

"We will give Regan all of our support and will work with the police & relevant parties to ensure these messages are properly dealt with."

Charles-Cook meanwhile commented on the incident himself as he admitted he is "extremely hurt."

He said on Twitter: "I am extremely hurt and frustrated to come off the pitch today and be left multiple messages of racist abuse.

"This makes us stronger and we will continue to fight against racism!"
