Real Betis will wave off Hector Bellerin back to Arsenal, but door left ajar

Real Betis president Angel Haro says Hector Bellerin will return to Arsenal this summer after his loan spell with his childhood club.

The 27-year-old right-back returned to play in his home country for the first time in his career in September. Bellerin swapped London for Seville on a season-long loan deal, with no option buy.

So it’s no surprise to see the Arsenal stalwart return to The Emirates. But Betis chief would not rule out the prospect of Bellerin joining the club at a later date.

The defender had a successful spell in LaLiga and made 32 appearances, collecting five assists. He impressed Betis officials and helped the club win the Copa del Rey and reach the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Betis would no doubt love to get their hands on the Badalona-born defender on a permanent deal. And Haro hinted they could explore a deal in the summer.

“Hector is a fanatic player and a very good person,” said Haro, via Goal. “It was a loan that we had from Arsenal, now he returns to Arsenal and from then on, we’ll see.

“It is true that he has been very caught up in everything about Betis because, in addition, his parents are Betis fans. Hopefully we cross paths again.”

The feeling would probably be mutual on Bellerin’s part too.

He was emotional and reduced to tears as he waved goodbye to the club’s fans after their final home game of the season against Granada last week.

And Bellerin could sign off by helping Betis to a top-five finish in La Liga.

Betis face champions Real Madrid in the last game of the campaign. They are in fifth spot, two points ahead of Real Sociedad, with Sevilla three points above in third.

Reports claim Arsenal will ask for £15m for Bellerin, who is under contract until 2023.

But with the player
