‘Happy’ Hector Bellerin makes future intentions clear as he heads back to Arsenal

Hector Bellerin has made it clear where his future lies, after admitting he would like to continue his career in Spain with Real Betis.

The Arsenal right-back has been on loan with the LaLiga side all season after leaving for Seville last summer. It’s a club he is fond of having grown up in the region and he is intent on making his loan deal permanent.

Bellerin made 32 appearances and contributed five assists as Betis finished fifth in LaLiga and qualified for the Europa League. And he has said he would like to continue his career with Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

“For now, I have to go back (to London)” he told Betis TV’s ‘All Green’, via sportzshala. “I have spoken with the two clubs and I have made my position clear to them.

“There are two months ahead to look for the best start for everyone. I made an effort to come and I am willing to make any effort so that this continues to be my home, because I am happy.

“It is also true that I had very nice moments in London, in England. Arsenal has given a lot, the opportunity to be a professional.

“If I leave it, it will be difficult, but hopefully everything goes as we want.”

However, the 27-year-old is under contract in London until 2023. And the terms of his loan did not include an option or obligation to buy for Betis.

In fact Real Betis president Angel Haro confirmed Bellerin would return to Arsenal this summer, but left the door open on a permanent deal.

“Hector is a fantastic player and a very good person,” said Haro, via Goal. “It was a loan that we had from Arsenal, now he returns to Arsenal and from then on, we’ll see.”
